Higher Education Equals Indoctrination

Higher Education Equals Indoctrination

The “Globe & Mail” ran this story today, “John Furlong has won the right to get on with his life“.

This is no different than the Ryerson Teacher who led her class to the steps of the courthouse on the day the Ghomeshi verdict was being released on her “We believe the survivors” crusade. This thing knew from the conduct, just as we all knew from the conduct of the women on the stand it was going to be not guilty. It didn’t matter because she had to get her message out that she was right and that lying on the stand is okay and Law is wrong.
Careless with the truth the Justice said. Yet the conduct and the actions of the women just didn’t matter to this thing that led the class charge to the courthouse. Her actions are wrong on so many levels. I wonder if you were in her class and didn’t attend you got a failing grade. You have to believe anyone who could do what this thing did would certainly fail someone for not following her belief system.
That brings me to George Brown College and this little nugget. Also wrong on so many levels. See the flyer image. This shows the event has the backing of the college. Hell it shows that George Brown College is squarely opposed to a candidate in an election taking place in another country. Were the conduct taking place in an election in Canada it would be just as deplorable!

Medical Assisted Dying Bill C-14

Bill-C-14-LinkImageHead-Fini

Medical Assisted Dying Bill C-14

June 09, 2016

If you are so inclined, you can email your MP.

I have dealt with chronic pain for more than 27 years. For the most part I have done so well.  What I have is degenerative so it only gets worse.

The Bill was rejected by our Senate and sent back to the sitting Liberal Government amended. My only comment on the process has been, “Get it right”. Getting it right has not happened. Government getting it right involves making decision on who is eligible while avoiding legislation on who can and are to be executed. Not an easy task to perform while negotiating a slippery slope.

There are many of honourable intent that weighed in. I’m certain there are a few of those with less than honourable intent that also contributed to the process.

This is not preaching and is reality. This is consideration that the able of mind and body have to give credence to. If you haven’t dealt with chronic pain be it physical or mental you do not know what it’s like. You cannot fully understand the condition. You cannot be sympathetic because you haven’t lived with it. By living with it I include the families of those who get involved with the direct care of a stricken family member. You can be empathetic and that is appreciated.

This is about me. I shall be as clear as I can so that everyone understands what I think and believe are the differences between expressing, “Just shoot me” on a really bad day and declaring, “It is time to go”.

I had a, “Just shoot me” day yesterday. The weather turned fast. It got cold and damp and I felt it big time! I’ve had days like those before and I’ll have them again. Days like that go with the territory. I don’t just understand the condition. I know the condition because I live it. Every damn day physically and emotionally, I live it.

I’ve had the odd night where I have felt that if I didn’t wake up, that’s okay.

Through all these years I’ve worked with my Doctors. Sometimes my Doctors have thought I’ve been too rigid in the choices I make for myself. There have been times I’ve thought the Doctor wasn’t listening to me.

I have a history that is documented and verifiable. I’ve rejected and accepted the possible and proposed. I’ve tried things and then rejected them. I’ve tried things that have worked, do not interfere with the parameters I’ve defined and continue to make use of. I make the choices for myself and always have. No one else gets a vote.

At some point, if I don’t die first, I will have to make a choice as to when enough is finally enough. I already know what the parameters and conditions are that will trigger the action to terminate my life. Of course I hope that is a decision I never have to make. The choice to terminate your own existence cannot ever be easy or the will to live that humans have would not exist.

I have a set of parameters I’ve created that signal, “It’s time to go”. No one will have to make a decision for me as to whether or not the time has come to go. Someone may have to push that plunger for me, that person, or any person will not have to make a decision on whether or not the time has come.

There are others that have created their own definitive as well so determination to terminate is not left to another person.

Giving the choice to terminate your life to someone else or burdening someone else with that choice is abhorrent to me. This includes legislating Doctors to assist.

Do I believe Doctors should be involved to give statement to an individual’s physical and mental state? Yes I absolutely do. That doesn’t mean a Doctor should be forced by legislation to pull your life plug.

In the moment there is much rhetoric regarding those who are suffering now. I understand and appreciate that fact. Rushing something through to satisfy the Court or those who believe there is immediate need to alleviate the suffering of some is to my mind the wrong thing to do.

Yes the “Assisted Dying” or “Right To Terminate” matter has taken a long time to resolve. Foot dragging also must be discouraged and I believe that was part of the intention of the SoC when they gave a June 6, 2016 date for the legislation to be done.

It’s taken a long time to get this done and it is partly out of fear. Fear of making a mistake.  Fear of being responsible for a wrongful death. I believe to some degree, fear of God in Heaven too. All the things we’ve been taught from our religious and secular belief systems playing a part. No one wants to screw up just in case. I’m just not seeing a problem with those fears and hesitancies as it quite wonderfully displays our humanity.

The Senate removed the, “Near Death Requirement” in the Bill as it was sent to the Upper House. The, “Near Death” requirement was both unconscionable and conscionable at the same time. How’s that for duality! You can read the Senate’s explanation here.

This is a chance to get the Bill all the way right or as close to right as such a Law can be. The SoC could possibly be petitioned for extension.

If a temporary measure needs put in place, do it.

I’ve got myself and my mind right.

For myself and others I demand, even if it takes a bit more time that Government get it right!

If you’re having a hard time getting it right and you obviously are, you let me know and we’ll talk!

ADDENDUM:

I asked for help to read/proof this story before posting. I’m lucky to have real good help.

If you care to know the root cause of my chronic pain just use the link.

I was asked for my thoughts. Even my thoughts are more question than answer.

I’d have to go deeper in to the Bill as it sits. There was/is serious consideration that assistance be part of a Doctor’s mandate. I see it the same way as a doctor refusing to perform abortion, a matter of personal ethics. My view of Doctor assistance stops at the carrying out of the act.

There are moments when I think if someone shows up and says they choose to opt out you just let them do it. I come by that through experience.

There is a young man, well young by my standards who visits a coffee spot. His name is XXXXXX. He can walk and when he does he needs support and the motion is all herky jerky. XXXXXX has serious speech problems as well. I do not know what the affliction is but I’ve sat with him on occasion and XXXXXX mentally is all there. XXXXXX likes the girls too.  ;-}

People like XXXXXX who may not be able to communicate exactly what they want are the ones we have to protect.

For me, I can take a lot on the physical side and cope very well with the mechanical problems. I don’t know what my physical threshold is. No one does until they hit it. If I lose the cognitive, it’s time to go, period end of story.

The Times Have Changed, And Not

The Times Have Changed, And Not

One of my FB friends had this image posted on their page. This friend is an American. Except for the distinct lack of taste in choice of NFL team to be fanatical about, a damn good guy.

Quite the statement by an American isn’t it? A true Red, White and Blue to the bottom of his heart American.

komrad americaYou can see what I said in the comment field on my friend’s page. The word in Russian is, “Thank you”.

Wasn’t that long ago wishing the Russians or Soviets if you prefer anything good, well a week on the wrong side of the fence at Gunatanamo would have probably been a more palatable option to many Americans.

They’re talking about Syria here.

I’ve read some on the turmoil there. Made a few comments myself. What I’ve gleaned recently and with all the disinformation I don’t know how much I can really believe. What I’m getting, feeling, thinking is that in this conflict to some degree, the U.S. of A is fighting the Russians. and vise versa.

One thing I do know is that to many Americans before the fall, Russia and the USSR were the same thing.

I had actually moved this piece in to the trash. Wouldn’t you know about 5 minutes after I trashed it I saw something that made me retrieve this.

I saw that the Russians buzzed a US Navy Destroyer. This is pure stupid shit!

Stupid Shit 01

This is the mindset and behaviour that has to stop. Both Super Powers know better than this.

Peeing in the other guys soup just cuz. The mentality of a 6 year old on the playground. Someone “screws the pooch” when this thumbing of noses is going on and the world is going to have bigger problems than it already has.

While Russia and the USA are sorting out the mess that didn’t have to happen, those other problems will have an opportunity to grow and flourish.

Komrad America

Komrad America

I was poking around on LinkedIn this morning and saw a post that I just had to share with, “Good Friend” who is American. I bounce many things off “Good Friend”.

What I said to my friend. You can click on the image from the posting to better read it.

I recall the Cold War and not just from books and television. The United States of America had air bases in Canada high in the arctic. Had to keep an eye on them commies don’t you know. It was good for Canada cuz who knew what them red devils would do and if it ever started up! A goodly number of missiles would of went right over top of Canada for U.S. delivery.

I said a number of years ago give them time, the USSR is a young nation they’ll come towards freedoms and capitalism. I also said around the turn of the century that America’s freedoms are eroding and they are turning in someways to communist thinking to curtail liberties. This lessening has also taken place because of what I see is a lack of tolerance and respect.

In 20 Years

This is the question I posed to, “Good Friend”.

So in twenty years is Canada going to need Russian air bases to keep the Americans away from taking over those radical free thinking Canadians on the American doorstep?

Solve the equation

And I Said # 1

And I Said # 1

I have days where I’m just not feeling very well. This is one of those days. I have difficulty getting things to flow and it frustrates me. When I have days like this where everything I write is taking to long and I find myself overly critical of style and the coherence of what I write, those are the days where I’m best able to exercise my intelligent donkey.

Today I got an age slap too. Forty years ago today Springsteen was on the cover of Time and Newsweek. Talk about having your ass thrown in to a retrospective! Said to a friend that when I was 40 I felt like 25 with something odd going on. I also said “CCR, creaky crotchety reprobate”.

Statler and Waldorf

I’m coming in to one of my coffee spots today and I see a woman with a very pinched look on her face go by carrying a broom handle. I’m congratulating myself for not asking her how long it took to get the stick out of her butt.

It’s good to have duality and today I’m both Statler and Waldorf from The Muppets.

Normally my Muppet spirit is Floyd. Now Floyd is very laid back and cool. Statler and Waldorf not so much.

So off I go out poking around and looking at stuff, FB, LinkedIn, my news feeds, etc, and look for things that I can feed to my donkey. Makes me happy and enlightens others.

If your current state of mind is open to the enjoyment of some of what I encountered and my commentary, keeping in mind of course that it is me, carry on. If you’re not open to such, now would be a darn good time to just click off. A euphemism? I’d never do such a thing. Just so you know, the opposite of a euphemism is a dysphemism.

As this is a word site lets begin with the word

Despair

Next up is from Bette Middler’s page. In the Spirit of the Divine Miss M’s Sophie Tucker jokes I added an oldie and a goodie without giving them the answer to the joke. The comment just seemed to work better this way. Remember I told you it wasn’t going to be a pretty picture if you continued on.

snow white

This showed up on my page from a posting by a friend.
My comment which friend liked is below.

Bed BreakfastAnd I said

I asked, Don’t you mean, “also make breakfast for you in bed”?
and I said, Hey, I do what I can.

~.~.~.~.~

Next up is something I saw from Time Magazine.

stupid shit

Here’s a thought. A joint Chinese and American venture. Round up the people doing really stupid shit. The Americans can transport them to that Chinese island where the people doing really stupid shit can be left to doing that stupid shit to each other.

I’m thinking it’ll be a long time venture for both nations that both nations can be proud of together for benefiting all mankind!

Wrapping it up with this. This is a portrait I’m working on of my Guardian Angel.
I know who my Angel is because I took a test. When the piece is done I’ll post it.

You can read about my Angel in, “Random Angel Musings
Be a darn good idea to remember just who is on my side.

LinkedIn Lookup; The Creepy Crawly App

LinkedIn Lookup; The Creepy Crawly App

LinkedIn has managed to creep me out with their new Lookup app. They did a good job of ticking me off previously as I noted in a previous post.

My original thought was to spin this a little different. When I got the email and read through the announcing of LinkedIn Lookup my first response was a creepy kind of disbelieving laughter followed by the; “are you kidding me” kind of laughter.

This is how LinkedIn introduced Sarah and LinkedIn Lookup with pictures.

  • Meet Sarah. When she has a big project with a tight deadline, she starts with LinkedIn Lookup.
  • Using LinkedIn Lookup, she searches for coworkers with the skills she needs to get the job done.
  • Sarah checks their profiles to confirm they’re the right fit, and then contacts them right from the app.
  • LinkedIn Lookup saves Sarah time by connecting her with coworkers who might otherwise be hard to find.

LinkedIn invited me to meet Sarah and I thought it be a good idea if I introduced Sarah to a good friend of mine. I had no idea they’d already met and neither knew that I knew them both, separately. Perfect recipe for disaster huh guys? You can be certain my ears will be burning because you know how women gossip when they get together.

When I introduced Sarah to my friend I said a few other things as well. I can even repeat some of them.

  • You can’t find them in their cubicle and can’t get them with office communications.
  • You’ve tried them at home and even seeing it was work calling didn’t get someone.
  • Do you really think you’ll get a response with LinkedIn’s creep you out app?

This is what my friend had to say about Sarah and I’m hoping with all my heart Sarah doesn’t find out because I wouldn’t want that dear, dear, misguided soul to think I was an unfeeling cad*.

Oh please: ”Meet Sarah…”  Was this written for a 5 year-old?
As Linkedin is utilized by adults, let us use adult-speak:
Sarah has a project.
Sarah doesn’t feel like doing said project.
Sarah realizes that said project has a deadline.
Sarah hears the ticking of the clock wasting away the hours.
Sarah feels the cold hands of Death clawing at her soul (although this has nothing to do with said project; Sarah is neurotic)
Sarah calculates that said project will cause her to miss cocktail hour later that evening.
Sarah does not want to miss cocktail hour later that evening.
Sarah throws a fit over the idea of missing cocktail hour later that evening.
{Interlude- Sarah chips her nail, and goes to manicurist to have it fixed}
Sarah makes a list of lesser co-workers onto whom she can dump said project.
Sarah uses Linkedin Spy App to seek out lesser co-workers.
Sarah does this because she’s a professional.
Linkedin is for professionals.
I am not a professional.
I am not on Linkedin.
But I do like cocktails.
Now Sarah will be able to meet me for cocktails.
The End.

There was one other thing my friend said, “Don’t keep Sarah late; it’s her turn to pay!”

I’m thinking Sarah will be paying large for this projects failure.
I’m thinking my friend is going to be hearing a lot of whining when they meet for cocktails.
I’m thinking there was more whining about the chipped nail than the missing minions.
I’m thinking my friend wasn’t really surprised when Sarah didn’t see the underlings as co-workers
I’m thinking the last pour will be on my friend and it’ll be Sarah in to a cab.
I’m proud of my friend for not leaving Sarah passed out in the lounge’s bathroom.
I hope the cocktail lounge had Sarah’s corporate credit card and my friend didn’t get stuck with the tab.
I’m especially happy my ears weren’t burning so thank you Sarah.

I am not a conspiracy theorist or a paranoid. Let me tell you though, something like another app such as LinkedIn’s Lookup that is designed to track you could get me going to that side of the conspiracy and paranoia fence right quick.

And wouldn’t you know it, as I’m working on this; another request has come in asking me to “participate” in access. This access request, it comes from … Microsoft.

SMACKED, deservedly so

SMACKED, deservedly so

I was poking around this morning. Usual get the day going stuff, coffee, email, coffee, news feeds, coffee, you get the idea. Saw a goodie by a friend on FB and left a comment. I decided to bring it up here and the giggles picture image is at the end.

Recently I smacked someone so hard they pulled the comment they had made in favour of a piece on LinkedIn off the piece. At the time I didn’t make a comment directly at the author. I had my anger and disgust noted and hey I had no clue you could pull a comment off and the comments made against that comment would go with it.

The author of the piece has now been smacked by me and if you’d care to go see what this individual wrote, be my guest. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/homosexualy-bible-christian-counsellor-george-sukhdeo?trk=mp-reader-card

This is what I left as comment for the author today.
You disgust me. Your kind disgust me. What ever possessed you to ask to get on my contact list I do not know and do not care to know.

I smacked the one proponent you had so hard with what I said that person pulled their comment off. So much for the courage of your convictions. There are to my mind two possible reasons that person pulled their comment.
1. Coward.
2. They were told to get it down by a 3rd party whose attention I brought the comment to which in actuality brings us back to reason number 1.

I’ll tell you what I told that other disgust me individual who pulled their comment off your piece after I had left comment for them.

1. God must have wanted me to see this piece of filth because here I am.
2. I am closer to God than you are and this is why. https://transitionu.wordpress.com/2014/08/29/how-i-know/
3. God has parents. https://transitionu.wordpress.com/2015/05/25/god-has-parents/

Part of the reason my friend laughed, friend knows I do it.

G.D.A.S. 14/10/2015 – F Bomb 1st

General Dumb Ass Shit October 14, 2015

The “F Bomb” appropriate use there of.

Cab drivers. Dropping it on the cab drivers that are honking at you because they want a fare. Normally I just ignore them but today my capacitor reached full load and needed discharging.

Standing at the corner minding my own business and the cab honks at me. I’m standing still and not looking up and down the street like I could be looking for something like, oh a cab. If I am looking for a cab I’m going to see him because, hey I’m looking around for something. Beyond that it is rush hour in the core of the city and if a cab is what I’m looking for and I miss one, there will be another one in oh, maybe a minute.

Today when this cab honked at me I turned, looked directly at the driver and mouthed F…….. OFF. My small directional F Bomb that landed solely on the individual it was intended for was obtrusive to no one else. If my giving that cab driver a direction was obtrusive, tough. Hell what I did wasn’t even close to what the cyclist the dumb ass startled yelled at him.

Cabs all have recording equipment and I think this would make a fine law. When a cab honks at you to get your attention, by law, you must turn and at the top of your voice, drop the F Bomb on the cabbie. If an officer of the law catches the exchange he’ll see the cab and know to have the recording checked. Ahhhhh in a perfect world.

~.~.~.~.~

Had some stuff going back and forth with another writer whom is also a good friend of mine. I relayed to my friend who lives in the United States that I’d heard about a couple of law suits and passed on what those suits were.

Friend agrees there is to much frivolous litigation. Friend appreciates that friends north of the 49th laugh at this dumb ass shit and doesn’t blame them.

~.~.~.~.~

Man hit in the head by 16 pound pine cone suing for 5 million. I went and read the story and there is to my mind validity were the area not signed. Now had it happened in Yellowstone and not San Francisco, yeah no. What’s the point in communing with nature if someone has hung signs all over? But you know what, trees drop stuff, it aint a surprise.

Woman sues nephew for 127K. I’m thinking it’s a shame she didn’t land on her ass. Might of knocked some sense in to her. I’m guessing for the jury, 20 minutes laughing their asses off and 5 minutes to compose a straight face to go back in to court with.

Fashion That Hath “Get Lucky” Charms

Fashion That Hath “Get Lucky” Charms

Torn Jeans Advertising

Ladies to preface, there are ladies that have said I know more about women than they do. There is even one lady that declared me an expert on women after reading a few things I’ve written and some interaction that isn’t public.

I had this conversation the other day with a marketing friend who knows their stuff.

Guys for the most part are of the mind that if you’re gonna talk the talk you better walk the walk. Put up or shut up if you like.

Guys as I’m sure most women know, appreciate visual aids.

No delicate way to convey the message girls so I’m just going to spell it out for you. I would think that with the nature of a female animal you’d appreciate this arrives without cunning and conniving. The straight goods so to speak.

Those TORN JEANS and the great majority of them are torn at the knees, they send out a message that is about as subliminal as a train going in to a tunnel.

Those torn at the knee jeans are about as subtle as the old joke on how do you tell who the head nurse is.

Ladies so you know, those torn at the knees jeans are writing cheques you just may not be interested in cashing.

If you are so inclined, great! If you aren’t inclined, don’t wear them. Either way, that’s okay too because male and female, we all appreciate truth in advertising!
